Announcing syGlass v2.2.0

syGlass v2.2.0—our first release of 2025—is here. Featuring the introduction of voice commands, improvements to the narration playback experience including video-like seeking and embedded assessments, mask customization features, and checkout of licenses for offline use, we think it has a little something for everyone.

New Features
- Voice commands
- Options to rename narrations and masks via voice inside of VR
- Press the Meta menu button on the left controller (or hold the menu button on SteamVR hardware) to trigger a voice command
- Turn channels on and off, adjust visualization settings, and make changes to items in the “General” tab of the VR settings
- Ability to check out syGlass license seats for offline use
- Check out the license for a term of up to 1 year on a given PC
- Generate an offline license file that can be transferred to a never-online PC
- Support for creating syGlass projects from the following files:
- A wider range of varieties of local OME-Zarr files
- Tile-mode CZI files
- Improvements to control of masks, in and out of VR
- A new “Masks” menu in the 2D UI allows assigning names, groups, and custom colors to masks
- The VR UI now displays the current masks name and custom color
- “Next” and “previous” mask buttons are now present in the “Masks” tab of the ROI tool menu
- New narration file format
- Allows adjusting playback speed while preserving audio quality
- Permits quick seeking through the narration, as you would a 2D video
- Assessment creator, allowing creation of assessments for embedding into presentations
- Create a bank of multiple choice and true/false questions
- Combine the questions into assessments as needed
- Embed assessments into presentations
- Improvements to button labels drawn on Quest controllers
Optimizations & Bug Fixes
- Optimizations to make better user of available RAM during high-resolution video renders
- Improvements to quality and range of resolutions for 180- and 360-video renders
- Fixes syncing of edits made to existing measurements during narration
- Allows “Annotation Size Multiplier” setting to apply to tracing nodes
